Brawl Ruins Wedding Night in Philly

Posted: Updated:

It happened this weekend in Philadelphia, but a wild scene caught on camera has people around the country talking. It started with a pair of weddings at a fancy hotel, and ended with cops swarming the lobby arresting people.

It was anything but bliss on this wedding night in Philadelphia, guests of two separate wedding parties duking it out. "I was actually up on the second floor watching," said Max Schultz who was staying at the SHeraton Society Hill hotel and videotaped the fight on his cell phone. "It was very loud and very obnoxious, they just started punching each other and hitting each other."

By the time Philadelphia Police arrived, they said 75 to 100 people were fighting. Schultz explains what he saw, "The police came in and just started clubbing people."

Officers say they were outnumbered and called for backup twice. Investigators believe the melee originally started among members of one wedding party, but then someone reportedly from the second wedding party was hit with something and the situation went downhill from there.

In the video, you can hear Schultz say, "Did they just deck the bride?" At that point, a bride is seen falling to the ground.

Several people were injured and one man, believed to be an uncle of a bride, died of a heart attack.

Police arrested several people for disorderly conduct and more arrests could come.. on a night of celebration that disintegrated into chaos. Officials at the Sheraton released a statement saying they are cooperating with the police investigation and offering condolences.
