Four Injured in Two Crashes Involving Black Ice

Black ice is to blame for two crashes that hurt four people Saturday morning.

The first happened at about 2:30 a.m. on Interstate 94, 37 miles west of Jamestown, North Dakota.

Fifty-year-old Jennifer Maul of Watford City was heading west when she crossed a railroad overpass that was covered in black ice.

The car flipped and went into the ditch. Maul and two others were taken to the hospital.

The other crash happened at about 4:30 a.m. on I-94 just east of Valley City.

Thirty-eight-year-old Lynette Rodriguez of Valley City was heading east on a railroad overpass that was covered in black ice.

The car fish-tailed and went in the ditch. Rodriguez was taken to the hospital.

Both crashes are under investigation.
