Campaign Aims to Keep You in the Crosswalk

Posted: Updated:

A new public safety campaign in Minnesota is set to warn pedestrians their lives are never more at risk than in the coming month.

But that's true across the river as well.

October is the deadliest month for pedestrian-car crashes in both states.

The extra risk can come from darkness falling earlier, and the fact that kids are back in school.

However, jaywalking also plays a role. And Moorhead police say the intersection at 8th Street and 12th Avenue is a particular problem, particularly with construction blocking access to the Concordia College skyway.

The Minnesota D.O.T. is bolstering their safety message by reminding us with billboards, radio, bus, restaurant and bar ads through the coming weeks.
