ND Population Predicted to Jump 25%

Posted: Updated:

(AP) - A new housing study predicts North Dakota's population will grow to 840,000 people by 2025. That's a 25 percent increase.

Ten counties in North Dakota's oil country are forecast to grow by 50 percent in the next 13 years. The population of Williston and its three-county region is expected to double.

The report says the statewide demand for housing is expected to increase 30 percent by 2025.

The report was done for North Dakota's Housing Finance Agency.

Agency director Mike Anderson says it provides information about how much, and what kind, of housing North Dakota will need during the next decade.

Gov. Jack Dalrymple is speaking Tuesday at a housing forum in Bismarck. He says he'll suggest ways the state can encourage housing construction.
