2 Arrested on Drug, Child Neglect Charges

  Two people are facing drug and child neglect charges after Fargo police found a 4 year old child sleeping in a closet alongside 65 grams of marijuana and a handgun.

 The narcotics team was executing a search warrant at a south Fargo apartment when they found the child.

  Michael James and Shatonna Cook were arrested. Over 5 pounds of marijuana, 3 handguns and more than $7,000 in cash were confiscated.

  The child was taken into protective custody.

From Fargo Police:

  On September 19, the Fargo Police Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at the 1000 Block of 44th St. S.  Four adults and a four year-old child were present in the apartment. The child was found sleeping in a closet in the apartment. Also found in the closet was 65 grams of marijuana and a handgun. The marijuana was on the floor of the closet and the handgun was in what appeared to be a child's backpack on a shelf in the closet.   

  The search warrant resulted in the arrest of two people and the seizure of over five pounds of marijuana, three handguns and $7,315.   

  The following person was arrested for Child Neglect, Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Deliver and Possession of A-Misdemeanor Drug Paraphernalia:

  The following person was arrested for Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Deliver:

 Shatonna Jamei Cook
23 Years Old
Fargo, ND

 The child was taken into protective custody. Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Deliver and Child Neglect are class B Felonies punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.  Possession of A-Misdemeanor Drug Paraphernalia is punishable by up to one year in prison and a $2,000 fine.
