Fargo Police are credited with getting 4 people out a burning home. Officers raced to the scene, at 1215 5th Street North after a walker spotted the blaze and called 9-1-1. Police saw flames coming from the back of the house and pounded on the front door. When no one answered, they kicked in the door and got the four out safely. They had been sleeping and were unware of the fire.

There was extensive damage to the home. Assistant Fire Chief Gary Lorenz tells KFGO News the blaze is blamed on improper use of a propane grill. Charcoal was inside the grill. It appears to have caught siding on fire and it spread into the roof and attic. About the same time, fire crews were dealing with another, smaller fire on the opposite end of town. It was home in the 3500 block of 11th Stree South. That fire is blamed on smoking materials. Damage was limited to the deck and siding. There were no injuries in either fire.
