Cigarette Starts Early Morning Fire

Posted: Updated:

Fargo firefighters say a cigarette thrown in a plastic flower pot started a fire early Thursday morning. A passerby spotted the fire at the home at 1106 10th Street South in Fargo around 3:30 a.m. and woke up the homeowner.

An assistant fire chief says the cigarette started the flower pot on fire. It spread to the mulch around the house and burned the widow well covers. The house was brick and firefights say that stopped the fire from spreading.

The homeowner was able to put the fire out with a garden hose before firefighters arrived.
