Man in Custody after Fleeing Police

From Moorhead Police:

On September 2nd, 2012 at approximately 0316 hours, an officer with the Moorhead Police Department attempted to stop a motorcycle in approximately the 2500 block of 8th St. S.  The motorcyclist slowed as if he was going to stop for the officer but then quickly accelerated South on 8th St. at speeds of approximately 50-60 mph.

  The officer initiated a pursuit and the motorcyclist turned Westbound on 30th Ave. S.  The motorcyclist lost control while turning Northbound on 5th St. S. and crashed.  The motorcyclist received minor injures and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

 The motorcyclist was identified as 31 year-old Shawn James McEachern of Fargo ND.  He is being charged with Felony Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, 1st Degree DUI, No Minnesota Drivers License and No Insurance . In addition to these charges, the motorcycle is subject to forfeiture because it was used to flee law enforcement.
