Emergency Food Pantry Re-Opens Monday

Posted: Updated:

The emergency food pantry of Cass and Clay Counties is re-opening its doors Monday at a brand new location. The new food pantry is ready after raising $800,000 dollars with the help of area organizations.

Workers say the new place is not only larger, but better equipped and can serve more people.

The new location is 1101 4th Avenue North in Fargo, but the phone number will remain the same at 237-9337.

ORIGINAL STORY

Cass and Clay County's Emergency Food Pantry is shutting down -- but workers there say it's all for the good.  They're packing up and moving to the larger, permanent new location they've been planning to open for nearly a year.

Workers are manning the current, temporary location for the next couple of days, in order to get clients groceries for the end of the month. That's traditionally their busiest time.

During the closure, clients are instructed to go to other area food pantries while workers pack up the goods at the current location.

Food Pantry coordinator Linda Clark says the new location will be better for the community. "Location-wise, it's going to be better. We're on a bus route, we're close to downtown. Just everything.

The new food pantry is open on Monday, September 10 and an open house reception is planned for September 18, starting at 5:00p.m.
