10th Street North Project Wraps Up

Posted: Updated:

As the summer nears an end so do some of those orange cones and construction projects. Thursday morning, one is complete ahead of schedule and road crews are getting ready to open the road.

You can see the light at the end of the tunnel on the 10th Street North project. Contractors are just putting in some finishing touches, making a few last adjustments before they open up a brand new roadway.

After a summer of construction and de-tours on one of Fargo's busiest arteries, drivers can finally take a deep breath as the finishing touches are now being put in on 10th Street North.

"We have a little bit of seeding to do here and there but it's the final signing ya know telling you stop signs and street signs and speed limit signs and some of that kind of stuff," Kevin Gorder with the North Dakota Department of Transportation says. "Lane assignment signs.. the last of the striping."

That stripping is actually tape not paint, but that's not the only thing new on this stretch of road.

"It's all brand new pavement and new sidewalks and driveways and re-do the boulevards and get that years of accumulation of salt and sand that's built up in their and get that out of there."

One of the biggest changes on this project that you'll probably soon notice is now 10th Street North is know a bit wider with the addition of a brand new bike lane that cyclists will now have the opportunity to enjoy.

"It gives them a nice straight direct connection and provides a safe facility for them to ride on I think we're gonna get a lot of use this is a pretty dense area," Gorder says.

Since this project came in ahead of schedule,  Bison fans can now focus their energy on the game instead of construction around the FARGODOME.

"We were thinking another couple weeks or maybe even three but there's a good shot we'll everything opened for the Bison game here on Saturday."
