Grand Forks County Deputy Assaulted

A Grand Forks County Sheriff's Deputy was assaulted in Larimore on Tuesday evening at 8:50 while responding to a domestic in progress.

Grand Forks County Deputies were responding to a verbal domestic that had gotten physical at a residence on Booth Ave and they were also requesting an ambulance.

The Deputy entered the residence with the ambulance crew. The suspect, Daniel Svir age 22 from Larimore, apparently had fallen down the stairs and was injured. The Deputy was assessing the type of injury Daniel Svir had sustained, when Daniel Svir attempted to leave.

 Daniel Svir punched the Deputy in the face; they both went to the ground. Daniel Svir got behind the Deputy and began to strangle him; the Deputy eventually broke free and was able to subdue Daniel Svir. Daniel Svir was arrested for Assault on a Police Officer.
