A Crookston man is charged with murdering a Thief River Falls woman last weekend.

31-year old Jedidiah Troxel is charged with stabbing and cutting the throat of 40-year old Tanya Kamierczak of Thief River.

The body of Tanya Kazmierczak was found lying along the bank of the Red Lake River by what's called the Smiley Bridge, 4-miles southeast of Thief River Falls. Authorities say a citizen spotted the body Sunday and gave them a call.

Authorities say Kazmierczak had been stabbed and her throat was cut. Next to her body was a boot print with a specific logo. Authorities say the boots belonged to the suspect.

The Sheriff credits numerous agencies for quickly wrapping up the case.

Sheriff Ray Kuznia: "The Minnesota Bureau of Investigation and their crime scene scientists and specialists, the Thief River Falls Police Department, the Pennington County Sheriff's office and Ramsey County Medical Examiner."

Tanya Kazmierczak was a married mother of 3, who lived in a Thief River Trailer Park.

According to the criminal complaint, witnesses say the last time she was seen alive was in the early morning hours of Friday, following an all night party.

The last person she was seen talking to was the suspect, Jedidiah Troxel.

Authorities say that during questioning, Troxel volunteered that he was never at the Smiley bridge where Kazmierczak's body was found.

He said that even though investigators had never mentioned the location of Kazmierczak's body.

Troxel remains in the Pennington County jail. His first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
