UPDATE: The Berg for Senate campaign just released an announcement that North Dakota Rep. Rick Berg will address the Republican National Convention in Tampa, FL on Tuesday, August 28 at approximately 3:00 pm CST.
Rick Berg was previously scheduled to deliver his remarks on Monday, August 27, but the day's activities were postponed due to inclement weather conditions in the Tampa, FL area.
Questions about the fate of Berg's appearance began when the GOP released the it's Isaac-delayed speaking schedule for the Republican National Convention in Tampa. (See schedule below).
The Associated Press reported Sunday: Shane Goettle, a North Dakota delegate who lost a GOP congressional primary earlier this year, said he was worried that some Republican Senate candidates would be bumped from the schedule, including his state's nominee, Rep. Rick Berg.
Indeed, the revised schedule released Sunday showed Berg was not among those who kept their speaking slots.
"As a delegate from North Dakota, I'd very much like to see him up there," Goettle said.
Both Democrat Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp and Democrat U.S. House hopeful Pam Gulleson have said they won't attend their party's national convention. Both cite scheduling conflicts.
On Friday the Berg for Senate campaign announced Berg would address the convention, explaining Berg would talk about:
As a leader in working toward a smaller and more efficient government, reducing the debt, balancing the budget, and repealing Obamacare, Rick Berg will address the convention on the economic success model of North Dakota and the big differences presented to voters this November between the path President Obama has taken our country or the direction North Dakota has taken, which is a national leader in job growth, economic activity, and domestic energy production.
