Three Schools Without Power - Valley News Live - KVLY/KXJB - Fargo/Grand Forks

UPDATE: Three Schools Without Power

Posted: Updated:

4,889 customers in West Fargo and Fargo's west side lost power for about 45 minutes this morning. Among those without electricity included three West Fargo Schools.

Early reports were that an Xcel Energy feeder line blew. Other reports said a cross arm broke and two lines touched.

That line services West Fargo High, Eastwood and L.E Berger Elementary schools in West Fargo.

Heather Konschak, Community Relations Coordinator for WPS, told valleynewslive.com that school started in the dark at 7:15am. School didn't start until an hour later. The students were not impacted, except their were no lights. The district was working on lunch plans in the event the power outage lasted longer.

West Fargo High lost power momentarily until a backup generator kicked in.

The older elementary schools do not have backup generators, said Konschak. Newer schools in the district do.
