Ready to Rumble at Alerus

Posted: Updated:

They're just about ready to rumble at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks. In just 2 weeks,

UND's football team kicks off its first game as an official member of Division One and the Big Sky conference, making it eligible for post season play.

Players and fans will notice a big difference inside. A summer long, 4-million dollar project to install new, state of the art turf is wrapping up. Now, instead of Sioux, the end zones say North Dakota.

There's already been a surge in ticket sales.

Dexter Albrecht, UND Ticket Sales: "For football it's the best we've had since before the transition… probably mid 2000's, when we were rocking and rolling out at the Alerus with playoff runs and everything."

Albrecht says football ticket sales are already up 10-percent over last year at this time. They're also seeing a surge in basketball ticket sales, much earlier than any other season.
