Did Candidate call himself a "criminal"?

Posted: Updated:

One of the more interesting political sideshows this week was the PSC Commissioner candidate Brad Crabtree arguing to anyone who would listen that... "two Republican public service commissioners are "flouting the spirit" of North Dakota's anti-bribery law by accepting campaign contributions from industries they regulate." - The Associated Press.

The charges are a bit of a stretch since one of the alleged infractions occurred in 2008 and 2010.

But Crabtree may still score points for getting U.S. House candidate Kevin Cramer to inadvertently call himself a criminal.

In the Associated Press story, ND Dem PSC candidate says bribery law flouted, Cramer states "He's asking for the trust of the people, but he's not willing to turn in criminals that he knows are breaking the law?"

Unless Cramer was talking about fellow Commissioner Brian Kalk, one must assume Cramer was being rhetorical and his statement an inadvertent gaffe.
