Changes on Main Avenue in West Fargo

Posted: Updated:

(FARGO, N.D.) –The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) – Fargo District – would like to update the traveling public on the West Fargo Main Avenue reconstruction project. Starting Monday, July 23, traffic will be removed from the south frontage road on the west end of the work zone. The frontage road stretches from 5th Street E to 9th Street E. Access to the businesses located along this stretch of the corridor will be via 1st Avenue E and the cross street of 8th Street E, where currently customers can also access these businesses to the south.

Motorists will be unable to access the business driveways located off of Main Ave. during this frontage road removal. New business access points are being constructed for each of the businesses from Main Ave. with this project work. Direct business driveway access will be restored from Main Ave. between 5th St. E to 9th St. E. in approximately two to three weeks. Detour signage will direct motorists to the access points of these businesses within the work zone.

Also occurring on Monday, traffic on Main Ave. from 5th St. E. to 9th St. E. will start driving on new roadway surface in this section of the project. Traffic will be head-to-head with one lane in each direction on the new westbound lanes of Main Ave.

All other traffic traveling east and west on Main Ave. remains head-to-head one lane in each direction from the intersection of Main Ave. and 45th St. NW. until 5th St. E.

Motorists should be aware of workers and equipment in near proximity to traffic throughout the construction area. The speed limit in this work zone is 25mph
