Public Input Wanted for Highway 59 Project

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. - The public is invited to an informational meeting for the upcoming Highway 59 project north of Pelican Rapids on Thursday, July 19, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The open-house style meeting will be held at The Pelican restaurant, located at the junction of Highway 59 and Otter Tail County Road 4 north of Pelican Rapids.

Representatives from the Minnesota Department of Transportation and Central Specialties Inc. will be available to address questions and concerns regarding traffic impacts, access and project schedule.

The resurfacing and bridge replacement project is located north of Pelican Rapids from south of the Becker/Otter Tail county line to Otter Tail County Road 9. Work includes milling and paving 13 miles of roadway and replacing the two Pelican River bridges on the east side of Prairie Lake.

The project will take place Aug. 6 through mid-October and will improve mobility and safety for motorists traveling along the Highway 59 corridor.
