The cupboards of the Thief River Falls Food Shelf were emptied today.
The Food Shelf closed its doors to reorganize after falling 65-hundred dollars in debt.
Now, the remaining food was distributed to needy folks at United Methodist Church in Thief River.
One of them was Janice Johnson. Johnson says one of her kids needs frequent medical treatments in Rochester, and there's just not enough money to go around.
Janice Johnson, Thief River Falls: "I have 4 kids to feed. We have trouble making our bills."
Reporter: "Are you a single mom?"
Johnson: "No, I'm married."
Reporter: "Just now enough money to go around for food?"
Johnson: "No, there's not."
Johnson says despite the fact that she and her husband are both working, they're usually short 300 dollars a month for food.
Thief River officials are meeting with folks from the Food Bank in Crookston this week to see about setting up a temporary food distribution site in Thief River, until the existing one can get back on its feet.
