One person has died and another injured after a rollover at a road construction site Thursday afternoon. The North Dakota Highway Patrol says it happened 4 miles east and 5 miles north of Buffalo, North Dakota on County Road 5 about 3:00p.m.

Two men were in a 2000 Chevy truck driving north, in reverse, on County Road 5. The driver, a 52-year-old man from Pierz, Minnesota, lost control. Authorities say the truck rolled and skidded into the ditch.

The driver was partially ejected out of the front passenger side window and died at the scene. The passenger, Allan Hammer, 47, of Ashby, Minnesota was injured in the rollover and life-flighted to Sanford medical center. Neither of the men were wearing seatbelts.

The road was under construction and being re-surfaced with blacktop at the time of the crash. The man who died was part of the construction crew doing work on the road. The company is Mark Sand & Gravel from Fergus Falls, Minnesota.
