Trouble at City Hall

Posted: Updated:

Thief River Falls City Administrator, Jodie Torkelson has resigned, following a dispute with city employees.

73 city employees voted in an informal gathering. 69 of them voted for a resolution that says in part: "...they were forced to have a vote of no confidence in Torkelson, because of low morale and ongoing conflict…"

Mike Spears, City Employee: "Basically, they feel that she's micro managing and running the department heads… where they should be allowed to run their own departments."

Thief River Mayor, Steve Nordhagen told us he declined comment until next week's Council meeting, when Torkelson's resignation will be considered.

Torkelson isn't talking to us, but a reliable source says, Torkelson has already been offered a new job out East.
