School Supply Drive Kicks Off

The 14th Annual United Way of Cass-Clay School Supply Drive kicks off  Thursday, July 12th. Beginning Thursday, drop-off sites across the community will be open for donations of new backpacks and school supplies.

Since 2008 alone, over 16,000 students have returned to school with the supplies they needed to succeed. United Way is again asking the community to donate supplies, volunteer their time or contribute monetarily to the School Supply Drive. Last year theSchool Supply Drive distributed over 4,400 backpacks to children and families.

Backpacks and school supplies will be distributed to students and families on Saturday, August 11th from 8-11:30am at the FARGODOME and on Tuesday, August 14th from 4-7:30 pm at the FARGODOME.

Any K-12 student in need attending school in Cass or Clay County is eligible to receive school supplies. Families must bring a form of ID for each child and a completed registration form which are available at United Way, online at www.unitedwaycassclay.org and on distribution days at the FARGODOME.

In 2011, United Way of Cass-Clay raised more than $5 million to invest in programs, agencies and initiatives throughout Cass County, North Dakota and Clay County, Minnesota. Currently, United Way of Cass-Clay invests in 75 programs within 43 local non-profit agencies, and education initiatives. The mission of United Way of Cass-Clay is to bring people together to create lasting change that will improve lives.
