New Details in South Fargo Murder Suicide

Posted: Updated:

UPDATED 6:47 PM

Family and friends are remembering Linda Williams tonight as a fun-loving woman with a warm heart and sense of humor. As they try to wrap their minds around what happened, court documents reveal what investigators found in Linda and Daniel Williams' home.

They paint a chilling crime scene at the couple's house. SWAT Teams found gun pellets scattered on the bed, a 12 and 20-gauge shotgun lying on the bedroom floor.

Andrea Williams, the couple's daughter, came to check on her mother after she had not shown up to work for two days. Police say the 24-year-old found her father's body in his room, with obvious head trauma and a gun right next to him. She immediately ran out the house and called 911.

It was only after authorities arrived on scene when they realized Linda Williams' body was also in the same room. Investigators say she suffered trauma to her body. They believe Daniel Williams had shot her then turned the gun onto himself.

The funeral for Linda and Dan Williams will be Monday July 16 at 11:00 am at the Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home. Visitation starts at 10:00 am.

Police say a man shot his wife then turned the gun onto himself. They've identified Linda and Daniel Williams as the victims involved in a murder suicide in their South Fargo home.

The two were found dead with gunshot wounds in their home in the Lewis and Clark neighborhood. Family and friends had not heard from the couple since Saturday. A family member found the two bodies in the house shortly after 8:00 Tuesday morning.

Police tape and SWAT teams now surround the South Fargo home. It's a scene those who've lived here for decades say they've never seen before.

Bill Pallasch drove back to his block to see what happened. He and neighbors say the couple have lived here for about 20 years and mostly kept quiet.

"It seems it shouldn't happen really," says Pallasch.

A family member came to check on the couple after the woman did not show up to work. Investigators spent the day in hazmat suits, capturing video and collecting evidence. They say these unattended deaths have raised some red flags.

"It is extremely rare we have two victims at the same location," says Lt. Joel Vettel from the Fargo Police Department.

It's a case that's left this quiet community a little shaken.

"We don't know the whole story do we?" Pallasch says.

Police are also interviewing family and coworkers in hopes of piecing together a timeline.

ORIGINAL STORY

Fargo police are investigating the deaths of a man and a woman.  A family member discovered one body after a co-worker reported one of the two did not show up for work.  Police got the call for help shortly after eight this morning at 1836 16 1/2 Street South in Fargo near Lewis and Clark School.  When they investigated, officers found a second body.

As of noon, police were still waiting for a search warrant to go inside and begin a full investigation.  They are not releasing the cause of the deaths, but a neighbor said he thought he heard gunshots early this morning.

Neighbors say the couple had lived in the home for more than 20 years.
