Oil Creating Tourism Boom

Posted: Updated:

The western North Dakota oil boom is creating a tourism boom in the Buffalo City.

The buffalo and connecting Frontier Village have been attracting 160,000 visitors a year. But, the Director of Tourism says they're already running a 37-percent increase in traffic this year. And their requests for tourism information are up a whopping 400-percent.

Nina Sneider says an increase in traffic to the oil boom in the western part of the State is probably the reason. But, they plan to take advantage of it.

Nina Sneider: "It's phenomenal. Before I moved to Jamestown I would have been hard to convince that, that many people came through. But, it's true."

If you'd like more information on their full calendar of upcoming events in Jamestown this summer, here's a link: http://www.tourjamestown.com
