Two Weeks Later, Otter Tail Man Still Missing

Posted: Updated:

Search crews have now brought in cadaver dogs to help look for a missing Otter Tail man. 33 year old Scott Burris disappeared two weeks ago. His van was abandoned in rural Elizabeth, Minnesota. Today Valley News Live was on site to find out where the investigation sits now.

Two weeks ago Valley News Live talked with Scott Burris' father who's been asking for the public's help in finding his son. His message really hasn't changed much from then, "you know I got all kinds of questions but mainly I would like to see my son, I am out of answers I just don't have any."

Since then, there haven't been any real breaks in the case. Today search teams went out once again to the area where Scott's van was abandoned. This time with a cadaver dog, and a blood hound.

Otter tail county detective Dan VanDyke says both dogs were necessary in today's search,"the blood hound we were trying to see if the dog could pick up on Scott Burris' scent and the cadaver dog is trained to look for decomposing human remains."

People have been calling the Otter Tail county Sheriffs office with tid bits of information regarding Burris, but so far none of it has brought them any closer to locating him. Detective VanDyke says the information they've collected thus far just leads to more questions, "we've got information and facts that support several theories of what could have happened to Scott Burris. But the longer he's missing the more concern we have for his welfare."

After looking in the area around Burris' van , search crews headed to the Pelican River to see if the dogs picked up on any scent there. Nothing was found and authorities say they're pretty much where they were two weeks ago.

The Otter Tail County Sheriffs office is asking that anyone who might have some information about Burris or his disappearance to contact them. The number is on your screen... 218- 998-8555.
