State Bank to become Bell State Bank

Posted: Updated:

State Bank and Trust is changing its name to Bell State Bank.  The company plans to keep its tree logo.

Bank President Michael Solberg says more than 150 banks in the Dakotas and Minnesota have the word "State" in their names.  He says the current name has led to confusion among potential customers.

The name "Bell" comes from Bell Mortgage, a Twin Cities mortgage company State Bank and Trust bought last year.  Solberg says the name "Bell" works well because the there are no other Bell Banks in the country.  In addition, the name is well-known in the Twin Cities market where State Bank expects to see growth in the future.
