Local Ties to Memorial Day Movie

   This holiday weekend, an emotional movie with  ties to the Valley plays at select theaters around the Country.

  The movie "Memorial Day" was shot in Minnesota and features a cast and crew that are almost entirely from Minnesota.

  Jana Knudson, a Crookston native is married to  Sam Fischer, the director of Memorial Day. They now live in Minneapolis.

  It features veteran actor James Cromwell and his son John, who also lives in the Twin Cities.

  Director, Sam Fischer says he hopes the film will inspire veterans to share their story's with their families.

Sam Fischer, Director: "Re-evaluate the Holiday. It's not just another day off and it's not just about our veterans who have fallen in the past. It's a day about actively sharing your memories and your stories."

  This weekend, "Memorial Day" will be playing at the River Cinema 15 in East Grand Forks.
