Work Zone Speed Enforcement

Posted: Updated:

Due to the reduced speeds during the road construction project on Main Avenue in West Fargo, the West Fargo Police Department will be doing several work zone speed enforcement campaigns.

The first campaign will be on Thursday April 12 sometime between 7:00am and 6:00pm. The West Fargo Police Department would like the publics help to make it a safe construction season.

During the speed crackdown, police say if you are speeding you will get pulled over. The speed limit along the Main Avenue construction zone in West Fargo is 25 miles per hour.  If you are going 35 miles per hour, just 10 mph over the limit, you'll be paying for an $80 speeding ticket. As your speed increases, so does the cost of the speeding ticket.

If you're looking to avoid the construction, there are detours in place. Click on the "Project Detour Maps" on the right of this page to take a look at the detours for all phases of this project.

SCHEDULE NOTE

The first reoccurring public meeting for the Main Avenue construction project will be held on Thursday, April 12 at 2:30pm at TNT's Diner (405 Main Avenue W, West Fargo, ND 58078). These meetings will be kept to 30 minutes.

These meetings will be held every other Thursday or until interest/need calls for them.

MAIN AVENUE PROJECT UPDATE

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) would like to update the traveling public on the West Fargo Main Avenue reconstruction project. Starting Monday, April 9 at noon, traffic will go down to one lane in each direction on a stretch of the frontage road and Main Avenue and a stretch of Main Avenue will close in West Fargo.

The east side of the project will remain in Phase 0 as the traffic will continue to use Main Avenue as their core route of travel from 45th Street N to 12th Street E.

Starting at 12th Street E, the west side of the project will enter into Phase 1A. Traffic will be redirected along the frontage road, crossing from the north side of the avenue to the south side at 12th Street E and using the frontage road for traveling through the corridor until 5th Street E.

Also on Monday, the traffic signals at the intersection of 9th Street E and Main Avenue will be removed. This intersection will become a four-way stop with a single lane in each direction. Motorists may experience brief delays.
