Fargo Air Museum To Expand

Posted: Updated:

Big changes are coming to the Fargo Air Museum.

Aviator, Jim Roers, says, "Just having the time of my life flying around the country."

For Roers, planes are a big deal, that's why he plans to have his birthday at the Fargo Air Museum... It's a place for people who just plain love planes and can't get enough.

Roers says, "Always moving to something bigger, better and newer. That's the fun about flying. There's always something bigger and better out there."

And the museum is becoming bigger and better.

Fargo Air Museum Director, Fran Brummund, says, "We are filled to capacity with aircrafts."

Right now at the museum, aircrafts are from the military, but the museum wants another type.

When the museum first started in 2001, the founders wanted three different sections, one for military, one for crop dusters and one for ag pilots. And after a decade, they're finally taking the next step. They don't have all the details just yet, but they say there's going to be an addition featuring one of those original plans.

Brummund says, "The museum's very excited about this. This is a dream to bring all of our aircrafts into play."

And for airplane addicts, the expansion will help give wings to their passion.

Roers says, "As long as I can fly, they will be a very big part of my life and there after, I'll continue to be an aviator forever."

The Fargo Air Museum is kicking off its fundraising for the new wing next Thursday with a celebrity auction and will be announcing their plans for expansion. They hope to start construction in the fall.
