Police ID Drowning Victim

Fargo Police have released the name of a Moorhead man who drown it the Red River Wednesday morning.

Investigators say divers found the body of Steven James Franek, who was 23, about 7 a.m.

An autopsy on Franek is scheduled for Thursday morning. 

Fargo Police say they spotted Franek acting suspicious near a downtown gas station early Wednesday, when they tried to talk with him he ran off.

Franek then jumped off the 1st Avenue bridge onto the bank of the river.  Police say he ran along the bank then tried to swim across to Moorhead but didn't make it.
