Fargo Woman Publishes Late Husband's Book of Encouragement

Posted: Updated:

Even after his death... a Fargo man is inspiring kids to overcome their fears.

Karen Bodway, of Fargo, just had her late husband's children's book published. He died two years ago after complications following surgery to remove a brain tumor.

The book "The Waterslide" is a story of a young boy (named Grant after the author's own son) who was scared to compete in a summer camp competition.

The book touches a lot of us at Valley News Live. Author Brett Bodway worked at VNL for 24 years. Karen told us she feels like Brett would be proud of her for publishing the book. He had tried to get it published, but was turned down. Karen was able to get it published herself.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters. Brett's son, Grant, who is now 12, has been paired with a Big Brother.

Karen is holding a book signing at book signing Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at Zanbroz Variety in downtown Fargo.
