Spring Cleaning Can Help You Lose Weight

Posted: Updated:

Did you know spring cleaning could help you lose weight?

Tips and ideas include:

The Kitchen: The kitchen is the most important room for weight management!  An organized kitchen leads to less eating out, which in turn means better nutrition, less money spent on food, and more family time.

The Bedroom: The bedroom is filled with clothes – and for those who are trying to lose weight that means clothes that don't fit.  Your closet should be filled with things that fit and flatter so you can start every date feeling good about yourself. Setting yourself up with a positive mindset will lead into making good food and activity choices throughout the day.

The Family Room: The family room can often be an area where your favorite snacks are enjoyed.  Try to make it a "food-free" zone by removing tray tables and candy dishes.  Eliminate anything that can lead to mindless eating.  Replace those items with magazine or games – something to distract you from just sitting in front of the TV and eating.

In addition to these tips, we also prepared a Spinach-Parmesan Dip.  This recipe can also double as a finishing sauce for grilled chicken or pasta! By keep a satisfying and healthy dip on hand, you're more like to snack on Power Foods, like veggies.

Spinach-Parmesan Dip

Ingredients

1/2 pound(s) fresh spinach, cooked and drained

 1 cup(s) fresh tomato(es), chopped

      1 cup(s) basil, fresh

 1/2 tsp table salt

1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes

      5 Tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender; process to desired consistency. Yields about 3 tablespoons per serving.

(A high quality cheese is recommended... such as Parmigiano-Reggiano for the best flavor.)
