Fargo Marathon: GoFarCharity

If you need some extra inspiration for your marathon training... why not run for a cause? More than 950 runners and walkers have taken part in the GoFarCharity program in the Fargo Marathon the last two years. The charitable crew has raised $281,000 for various local and regional charities.

The 2012 GoFarCharity event will have 25 participating charities.

Organizers say charity runners get an additional high from marathon weekend, because they know their efforts have contributed to the greater good of the community by helping their fellow citizens who are in need.

Other benefits include training shirts, race day singlets, and other incentive prizes from the charities; exclusive use of the ballroom at the FARGODOME on race day for gear storage, post-race massages, a post-race family meeting area, snacks and beverages; an invitation to the GoFarCharity reception and dinner on the Monday evening prior to marathon weekend; invitations to various social events and group runs organized by the charities.
