Sanford dietitians are reminding people the benefits of incorporating well balanced fruit and nutrients in their diet. Reminding the importance of taking a daily multi vitamin which can help fill in certain nutrients not present in fruit. However dietitians emphasize a daily vitamin should not replace eating fruit.
One of the best ways to combine the two can by making a fruit smoothie. Valley Today's John Trierweiler made the smoothie below this morning on the Valley Today.
Blend Together:
½ Cup orange juice
½ Cup vanilla flavor Kefir
½-1 whole banana
1 Cup frozen fruit (we used berries, peaches, mango, pineapple)
1 Tbsp. ground flax
1 Cup ice
