Nate Wolters scored 30 points to lead South Dakota State to an 80-57 victory over North Dakota State in Summit League men's basketball Wednesday, Feb. 15, before a crowd of 3,303 at Frost Arena.
Wolters had 22 points in the first half, including his team's last eight in a row before going to the locker room with a 43-24 lead. The Jackrabbits shot 61.5 percent in the first half and had 17 points off 11 turnovers.
SDSU stretched its lead to 32 points midway through the second half and handed NDSU its worst loss since a 32-point defeat at Minnesota in December 2007. It was SDSU's biggest win over NDSU since an 88-64 game in Brookings in January 2004.
Lawrence Alexander scored 17 of his team-high 20 points in the second half for North Dakota State (16-10, 9-7). Taylor Braun added 11 points, and TrayVonn Wright had six points and a game-high 12 rebounds for the Bison.
Wolters added five assists and three steals for SDSU (21-7, 13-3). Jordan Dykstra scored 15 points and grabbed a team-high five rebounds for the Jacks.
NDSU had a 36-24 advantage in total rebounds, but the Jacks outscored the Bison 34-10 in the paint and had 24 points off 16 turnovers.
North Dakota State is scheduled to host Western Michigan in a Sears BracketBusters game at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Bison Sports Arena. The Broncos are 11-15 after snapping a four-game losing streak with a 78-53 win at Northern Illinois.
