Allegiant air continues to grow in popularity among local airport passengers.
For the month of January, Allegiant is carried about 20% of all passengers at Hector International Airport. Delta carried about 46% of fliers; but, Allegiant has about a hundred flights a month, right now, and Delta has about 220 flights a month.
Of course, Allegiant planes carried about three times as many passengers as Delta planes, but the airport director says the company will also do whatever it takes to fill their seats.
"American, United, and Delta tend to look for that high value traveler, that tends to be what the focus is and they'll fill in with leisure travelers," Shawn Dobberstein, Hector International Airport Director, said.
Dobberstein says another reason Allegiant is doing so well is because they have many more flights right now than at other times of the year. Also, their flights go to Las Vegas, Orlando, L. A., and Phoenix; hot-spots people in our area like to get away to in the winter.
