Updated Thursday, February 9th 2012 by multimedia journalist Tony Ullrich:

Concordia College senior Rachel Brock told us she was awakened by a strange man around 5'10" tall early Thursday morning.  She said he appeared to be drunk when he came in through the unlocked front door about 3:45 a.m.  The intruder turned the light on in her bedroom waking her and turned it off once she made eye contact with him, she said.

Brock wasn't the only person in the home at the time the man came in.  She has a couple other roommates.  At first, she wasn't sure who was trying to get her attention in the middle of the night.  But, when she noticed out it was a man, she told him he was in the wrong house and asked him to leave.  But, he wouldn't cooperate.

When the man started to take off his jacket and gloves, Brock said she stood up out of her bed and faced the man in her doorway.  She then told the man that he had 15 seconds to leave or she was going to call the cops.  With still no cooperation from the man the second time, Brock screamed and ran downstairs to her roommates.  That's when she called authorities.

Between the time police were called and when they arrived, the man left.  Brock said police told her that the man fell in the yard a couple of times.

Moorhead police say they were not able to put together a sufficient description of the man from Brock.  Lt. Penas told us releasing any details about the man to the public isn't going to help the department.  Police say the intruder could face burglary and or disorderly conduct charges.

Original story from Moorhead police press release:

Moorhead police are looking for a man who allegedly broke-in to a home near Concordia College early Thursday morning.

It happened about 3:45 AM in the 1100 block of 5th Street South.

Investigators say a woman who lives at the home woke up to the strange man inside her bedroom.  Police say she asked the man to leave several times before a brief scuffle ensued.  When she screamed for help the stranger ran off.

Officers brought in police dogs to try and track the man, but couldn't find him.

Police say the suspect entered the home through an unlocked door and want to remind people to take safety precautions by locking and securing doors.

The Department is also asking anyone with information on the investigation to call Moorhead Police at (218) 299-5120.
