
RECORD JANUARY WARMTH
Yet another month will be recorded as one of the warmest in the Red River Valley. Based on preliminary numbers from the National Weather Service, the month of January 2012 is tied for 4th warmest on record in Fargo:

It was such a toasty month that the daily high temperature of 55 degrees recorded on January 5th at Fargo's Hector International Airport will go down as the warmest temperature EVER recorded during the month of January.
ONGOING RECORD WARM FALL AND WINTER
This month is part of an extremely warm stretch that began near the end of 2011. From the start of September through January, the National Weather Service reported the warmest stretch on record in Fargo and Grand Forks:

MORE WARM WEATHER LIKELY FOR FEBRUARY
The Climate Prediction Center's 30-day outlook indicates greater chances of the warmer than average temperatures staying with us through the month of February.
