Gaines, IPFW Surge Past NDSU Late, 75-66

Frank Gaines had 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead IPFW to a 75-66 win over North Dakota State in Summit League men's basketball Thursday, Jan. 26, before a crowd of 1,149 at the Gates Sports Center.

Gaines was 11-for-14 at the free throw line for IPFW, which went on a 14-0 run to build a 64-55 lead with 3:23 left in the game.  Gaines made 6 of 6 at the stripe in the final 1:14 to help ice the game.

Taylor Braun had 24 points and 10 rebounds for North Dakota State.  Lawrence Alexander added 16 points and Mike Felt scored 15 for the Bison, who dropped to 13-7 overall and 6-4 in the league.

IPFW (10-10, 4-7) had a 38-24 rebounding advantage and shot 54 percent from the field compared to 41 percent for NDSU.

North Dakota State plays Oakland at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 28.  The Golden Grizzlies are 12-11 overall and 6-5 in the league after a 92-87 win over South Dakota State on Thursday.
