Bison Dominate Dakota State in 92-48 Win

All 13 active players scored as the North Dakota State women's basketball team rolled to a 92-48 victory over Dakota State on Wednesday, Jan. 4 at the Bison Sports Arena for its third straight win.

Jamie Van Kirk and Dani DeGagne scored 16 points each, while Miki Stephenson added  career-highs of 12 points and seven rebounds.

The Bison (5-11) took a 6-5 lead less than two minutes into the game and never looked back.  Van Kirk scored 13 of her 16 points in the first half, including a perfect 3-3 from behind the arc.  NDSU closed the half on a 13-2 run, holding Dakota State scoreless for over three minutes to end the first half.  The Bison went into the break with a 45-20 lead.

NDSU opened the second half with a 12-0 run and kept the Trojans off the board until over three minutes into the period.  The Bison went up by as many as 48 late in the second half after a Jennifer Lopez layup.

Stephenson scored eight of her 12 points in the second half.  Ali Browning saw the first significant action of her career and tallied seven points.  Alisa Brown added five, Lopez four and Liz Keena four as the trio all scored career-high points in the win.

The Bison shot over 50 percent for the second time this season, finishing 33 of 65 for 50.8 percent.  Dakota State shot 35.1 percent (20-57).  NDSU forced 18 turnovers and committed only six.

NDSU returns to Summit League action this weekend, taking on Southern Utah Saturday, Jan. 7 at 6 p.m. Central.
