Bison game to be televised

UPDATED at 3:50PM

CableOne Manager Scott Geston says he got calls from Rick Berg and Senator Conrad around 2:45 this afternoon confirming the news that the game would be reinstated on the Game Plan package, and will also remain available on ESPN3. They're staying open at CableOne an extra hour (until six) in case people want to call and order who don't already have Game Plan. If you already do, you don't need to call them -- you should already be good to go. And, for those who have digital receivers, they can call and get hooked up after hours over the phone.

Statement from ESPN:  "In addition to planned coverage on ESPN3, ESPN will be making the Maine vs. Georgia Southern and Lehigh vs. North Dakota State games in this Saturday's NCAA Division I Football Championship quarterfinals available through ESPN GamePlan – a nationwide, subscription television outlet available to all multichannel video providers. Additionally, local establishments such as restaurants and bars will have the opportunity to offer the game via GamePlan."

A spokesperson for ESPN says the decision was made as quickly as possible.

Kristie Chong Adler said, "This is the first time we are carrying this event, and in light of that, we feel this solution is the appropriate reaction to the fan response."

News release from Congressman Rick Berg:

Congressman Rick Berg today announced that the NSDU Bison NCAA Football Championship Subdivision Quarterfinals against Lehigh will be broadcast Saturday on the ESPN Game Plan package, in addition to ESPN3.com.

"This is exciting news for NDSU fans everywhere. All the credit goes to the NDSU Alumni Association for their call to action and for Bison fans working hard to show their support for NDSU," Berg stated. "On behalf of Bison fans everywhere, I am happy to announce that ESPN heard our request, allowing Bison fans across our state and the nation to come together and cheer on NDSU. Thanks to ESPN for being responsive to our request—now it's time to ‘be herd' in the Fargodome this Saturday!  Go Bison!"

The game will take place at the Fargodome on Saturday, December 10 at 3:00PM CST.

Earlier this week the NDSU Alumni Association sent an email calling for NDSU fans to urge ESPN to broadcast the Quarterfinal game on its Game Plan package, in addition to the Internet webcast on ESPN3.com.  ESPN notified Berg this afternoon of its intentions to broadcast the game on the Game Plan package.
