Bison Hold Off UMKC for Eighth Straight Win

Brynn Joki belted a career-high 26 kills and made four blocks to lead North Dakota State to a 25-14, 20-25, 25-16, 18-25, 15-13 win over UMKC in Summit League women's volleyball Saturday, Nov. 12.

It was the eighth straight win for North Dakota State, which tied its Division I team record for wins at 24-8 overall and finished 16-2 in The Summit League.

Kelsey Knoche had 16 kills and 18 digs to lead UMKC, which had won six of its last eight coming in. The Kangaroos finished their season 12-17 overall and 6-12 in The Summit League.

Joki hit .349 with only four errors in 63 swings and senior Jennifer Lopez dished out 53 assists while making 18 digs to help NDSU outhit UMKC by a .235 to .197 margin. Megan Lambertson and Chrissy Knuth added 10 kills and five blocks each.

NDSU also got seven kills from Lauren Cammack off the bench, six apiece from Lopez and Janna Deyle, and four from Paige Nash. Deyle added five blocks as the Bison outblocked The Summit League's top blocking team 13-11.

No. 1 seed North Dakota State is scheduled to play No. 4 seed Oakland at 5 p.m. ET on Friday, Nov. 18, in the first semifinal match of the Summit League tournament followed by tournament host and No. 2 seed IPFW taking on No. 3 seed Oral Roberts at 7:30 p.m. ET.
