The North Dakota State soccer team clinched a berth in the Summit League tournament with a 1-1 draw at UMKC on Friday, Oct. 21.  Sophomore Katie Tallas scored the game-tying goal with just under five minutes remaining in regulation. The Bison are now 13-2-2 overall and 6-0-1 in league play.

The Bison will head to the league tournament for the third straight year to defend their 2010 title.

Freshman Anisha Kinnarath led the Bison with five shots in the first half as the team took eight overall, but UMKC keeper Jami Finnell came up big with six saves.

UMKC took a 1-0 lead in the 83rd minute as Meagan Malloy scored off an assist from Sarah Todd.

Tallas responded with the equalizer just under two minutes later for her team-leading sixth goal of the season.

In the first overtime period, senior keeper Kalani Bertsch made an early save on shot from Taylor Bare.  At the other end, Finnell saved a Kinnarath attempt. Bare's shot with 27 seconds remaining was wide.

In the second overtime, Kinnarath tallied two shots, but both went high.

The Bison finished the game with a 16-8 advantage in shots and a 9-5 edge in shots on goal.  Bertsch finished the game with four saves.

NDSU plays at South Dakota at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23.
