Town Hall Meeting Gets Lively

Posted: Updated:

North Dakota Congressman Rick Berg took some heat during a town hall meeting in Grand Forks today.

The first term Republican Representative heard from many Democrats who aren't happy about his pledge for no new taxes as Congress tries to get the country's finances in order.

While Berg says he's willing to compromise, he's not willing to raise taxes.

Kristen Garaas-Johnson, Grand Forks: "But, big business needs to pay. They're going outside of the U.S. And they're making a huge amount of money and they're not even taxed on that."

Rep. Rick Berg: "We cannot tax the job creators and hope they're going to put more capital into their companies, creating jobs."

Berg has already announced he's giving up his seat in the House to pursue Senator Kent Conrad's seat when Conrad retires next year.
