The 24,000 square-foot facility is set to opens at 5:30 Monday morning and is located in the Urban Plains Development and will be adjacent to the Sanford YMCA Family Wellness Center in southwest Fargo.

"Sanford is proud to be improving sports medicine and athletic training in our community," says Colleen Carter, Vice President, Sanford Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. "We are committed to setting new heights with facilities and programming for everyone from the most skilled athlete to a family looking to live an active life."

The Sanford POWER Center will offer 25 yards of artificial turf, four 40-yard running lanes, one of which will feature incline, a half basketball court, weightlifting, cardio and other training areas, a hockey treadmill, artificial ice space, physical therapy with private treatment rooms and locker rooms.

The price tag on the facility is a $2.5 million dollar investment in the community. This is the second POWER facility for Sanford Health. In 2008, the system opened a 22,000 square foot POWER Center at 69th Street and Cliff Avenue in Sioux Falls.

"We are humbled by the opportunity to support the development and continued growth in the Urban Plains neighborhood. This is just one example of the potential this area holds," says Dennis Millirons, president, Sanford Medical Center Fargo.
