Here is a picture of one of many walleyes that I caught out of the Wildrice river this spring. A buddy and I have been fishing this secret spot for a few years, never hitting the water levels and currents right for walleye. Finally this year we hit it just right for about a week and it paid off with many nice walleyes. Spring walleye fishing can be amazing in ND, and we need to protect our right to get out and fish during the spawn. Our state biologists have determined that we are not hurting the walleye populations by fishing the spring spawn. So lets keep this tradition around for many generations.
