Charge: Son Savagely Attacked Mom

A Dalton, Minnesota man is in custody after police say he assaulted his mother. A 911 call was received on Saturday evening that a 68-year old woman had a head injury. Dalton Rescue and Ashby Ambulance responded to the scene and found Barbara Howard with a severe head injury.  Her son, 46-year-old James Howard, with a cut to his neck that he said was self-inflicted. The woman was taken to Lake Region Hospital and then airlifted to Sanford Hospital in Fargo. James was taken by ambulance to Lake Region Hospital.

After a Sheriff's Office investigation, James Howard was arrested for 1st degree assault. Attempted murder charges may be pursued.
