We have no shelter building. All of our dogs are either in foster homes or being cared for at local pet boarding facilities. Foster homes are preferred as they provide valuable insight into the dog's personality to help us better match the dog with a perfect home.
There are many expenses incurred in caring for these dogs (pull fees, boarding fees, vaccinations, spay/neuter, vetting, dog food, transportation, advertising). We rely on adoption fees, fundraisers, and donations to cover our expenses. It is not uncommon for a dog's adoption fee to be less than the expenses incurred while caring for the dog.
We are incorporated as a non-profit corporation with the state of North Dakota and have received our 501c3 tax-exempt status from the IRS. Any donations received are used to cover expenses incurred while caring for and rehoming the dogs. We have no paid staff.
Our rescue does not believe in breed discrimination and welcome all breeds of dogs. Additionally we do not discriminate based on the age or medical condition of the dog. The dogs we have available are all wonderful, loving dogs who deserve a second chance at life and love.
When all local rescues are full (ie. no space or foster homes available), effort is made to save dogs in local pounds by communicating and working with other reputable rescue organizations within the region. Often dogs, whom otherwise would have been euthanized, have been pulled from local pounds by our organization and transportation arranged to rescues in the Minneapolis area who have space available.
Over the years the 4 Luv of Dog Rescue has saved many dogs by either taking them into our care and placing them in new loving homes or finding other rescue organizations to help them.
