Tigers, kangaroos and turtles, the Chahinkapa Zoo in Wahpeton has it all for the whole family to enjoy, and they open for the summer this Saturday.
On April 25th the zoo will be open to the public starting at 10 a.m. Animals from 6 continents are arranged in habitats for all to see. Snow leopards, bears, otters, kangaroos and a entertaining orangutan are just some of the animals families can enjoy seeing.
Zoo keepers also will do animal training which is a great way for both adults and kids to learn. Zoo Director Kathy Diekman says it's fun to see all ages enjoy the habitats.
"You'll see the kid put their hand up to the glass, and the bear do the same on the other side. Then the mother has to try it, and the dad's look around to see who's watching but do it too!" Kathy laughs.

The Valley Today's Kristi Larson and photographer Norman Bell had a fun morning seeing all the animals. A photo gallery at the top of this story shows the different things they got to try.
