In its first year, the raffle caused some controversy, but now getting a ticket can be hard to come by. Tickets are now on sale for the popular, West Fargo Hockey Association gun raffle.
Organizer Cal Helgeson tells Valley News Live 300 guns will be raffled off and the grand prize is a 2015 Polaris 570 Ranger. Tickets are $40 and are first come, first served.
You can reserve your tickets online via the link attached to this story, or in person at one of the following locations:
• Scheels gun counter on 45th Street in Fargo
• Play It Again Sports in Fargo
• M&J Saloon in West Fargo
• Work Zone in West Fargo
• Pubwest in West Fargo
• Rookies in West Fargo
The drawing will be held March 21 at the Fargo Holiday Inn. All money raised in this year’s raffle will go toward bringing new ice facilities to the area.
The gun raffle raised some eyebrows the first year it was held. The timing of the fundraiser fell in the midst of nationwide debate on gun rights following the shooting at Sandy Hook elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut. Despite that, the raffle has become wildly popular in the last two years, raising tens of thousands of dollars for the local hockey association.
